Spotter does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal information. Everything recorded with Spotter stays on your device. There is no analytics, no telemetry, no server. The author has no way to see what you record.
When you press Start, Spotter captures, locally and only for as long as you keep the recording:
tabCapture API)All of the above is held in your browser's memory while you're recording, and is delivered only to you — either as a download to your computer (the HTML report, .webm video, or .json events file) or discarded when you close the page. Nothing leaves your machine.
tabCapture — to record the active tab's video.scripting + <all_urls> — to inject the toolbar overlay and the console/network hook into pages you choose to record. Required for the extension's core function.activeTab — to identify which tab you intend to record when you click the extension icon.downloads — to save the report, video, or events file to your computer.storage — to remember whether you've seen the first-run hint and the welcome page.webNavigation — to log page navigation events on the recorded tab into the timeline.offscreen — to host the video recorder (Chrome MV3 service workers can't access the DOM).None. Spotter does not include analytics, ads, error reporting, or any third-party scripts. The only external request the extension makes is when you click "Try it now" on the welcome page, which opens example.com as a sample page for you to try recording on.
Spotter is a developer/QA tool and is not directed at children under 13.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be available at the same URL with a new "Last updated" date.
